A Transformative Educational Journey: University of Greater Manchester's Delegation Visit to India
From 15th to 22nd April 2025, the University of Greater Manchester, in collaboration with Greater Manchester Global Learning Alliance India (GMG), embarked on a dynamic and meaningful academic tour across India. The delegation, led by Dr. Greg Walker (Pro Vice-Chancellor) and Ansh Sachdeva (International Business Lead), visited leading institutions and engaged with visionary education leaders, school principals, students, and policymakers across Delhi, Vadodara, and Greater Noida.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
The primary objective of the visit was to deepen UK-India academic ties, initiate strategic collaborations, and enhance student outreach. GMG coordinated and facilitated every aspect of this journey, from school and university partnerships to logistical planning and event execution. Each engagement was a reflection of shared commitment to education without borders.
Day 1: Warm Welcome in Greater Noida
The delegation was welcomed at BGS Vijnatham School with a cultural programme and an insightful student assembly. Ansh Sachdeva delivered an impactful presentation on UK education pathways, followed by an interactive session with curious and bright students. Special thanks to Principal Meenakshi Khurana and her team for their incredible hospitality.
Day 2: Inspiring Students in Delhi
The next stop was at Delhi Public School, Rohini, and Mount Abu Public School. GMG and UGM were met with enthusiasm and warmth from school leadership and students. Assemblies, Q&A sessions, and discussions on higher education options in the UK highlighted these engagements.
Day 3 & 4: Strategic Engagements
The GMG team arranged courtesy meetings with key political leaders including MPs and senior education officials. These engagements aimed at aligning educational partnerships with national priorities such as India Vision 2047 and the NEP (National Education Policy).
Cultural Exploration & Reflection
Outside the formal itinerary, the delegation explored cultural landmarks like the Taj Mahal, India Gate, and engaged in informal sessions with partners and prospective students.
Impact & Way Forward
This visit was more than a series of meetings—it was a bridge between two academic cultures. GMG remains committed to advancing student mobility, institutional partnerships, and long-term collaborations between UK and Indian educational institutions. The success of this tour is testament to the potential of collective vision and cross-border cooperation.
